Parent-Teacher Notes for Preschool Fall Y1

In the upcoming quarter, our preschoolers are going to learn the wonderful arc of God’s big gospel story: Creation, Fall, the promised Savior, and the new heavens and the new earth! They will discover that God created the heavens and the earth when there was nothing. He created man and woman in his image to enjoy fellowship with him, and he gave them the privilege of glorifying God by loving and obeying him.
After creation, God made a sacred covenant with man: God promised life to Adam on the condition that he obey God perfectly, and he warned Adam of death if he disobeyed. Sadly, because of Adam and Eve’s disobedience, we are all sinners. But God made a wonderful promise—a Savior who would suffer and die in the place of sinners.
God fulfilled his promise by sending his only Son, Jesus, to come to earth and die on the cross to pay for the sins of his people. Jesus rose to life in victory over sin and death. God will one day restore his people and his creation to himself, with Jesus ruling as King.
From start to finish, the children learn that the Lord our Creator is gracious and merciful to his covenant people—forgiving them, saving them, and keeping them. With God’s blessing, each child who participates in these lessons will begin to develop a biblical self-image. He or she will begin to know:
- I am a child created in God’s image.
- My purpose is to glorify my Creator.
Remember our spiritual goals for preschoolers (every quarter):
- To know that Jesus died to save us
- To know that God loves us and forgives us
- To know that we are part of God’s covenant family
- To respond to his love with hearts that trust and obey him
